Description

First cut at an image of the Lagoon and Trifid Nebula.  The Lagoon Nebula (M8) is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius and is estimated to be between 4,000-6,000 light years from the Earth.  The Trifid Nebula (M20), also located in Sagittarius, about 5000 light years from earth.  The data is from 18 five minute exposures, 6 each for RGB.  Captured the week of 6/27/22 by staff at the iTelescope observatory in Siding Spring Observatory in Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia using a Takahashi  TOA130 refractor telescope and SBIG STX-16803 camera.  Data downloaded from iTelescope and then stacked and processed with Pixinsight, Windows, and Apple edit.
